Congratulations to the Club's National Swimmers
Well what a fantastic 2 weeks it has been for Madeleine Bailey; Jodie Gittins, Rachel Hornby and Daisy Poole.
Jodie, Rachel and Daisy all had the experience of competing at the British Summer Championships with Jodie finishing 13th in the 16 years 200m Freestyle and all 3 girls competing in the Relay Teams.
This week the English Summer Nationals are taking place and Madeleine and Rachel were competing for the very 1st time at this event.
On Wednesday 1st August Madeleine, Jodie and Rachel were competing in their individual events. Madeleine achieved 15th place in the Girls 200m Breaststroke and Jodie achieve 8th place in the 16 years 100m Butterfly.
Rachel swam in the 2nd heat of the 200m Breaststroke, achieved a 7 second PB and then had to wait until the last heat of the morning to find out that she was the 2nd fastest swimmer going into the evening finals.
WELL the rest is history as in the final Rachel knocked a further 1 second off her time to finish in a time of
2.40.19 and took the Silver Medal. – WHAT A FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS COMPETING IN HER VERY FIRST National competition.
Rachel competes again on Friday 4th August in the 200m Butterfly and the club wish her every success in that event.
The Summer national are being “live streamed” if anyone wants to watch them on YOU TUBE
A well deserved holidays then beckons for all 4 girls before they commence training again at the beginning of September in readiness for the next phase of their swimming pathway.
